Christianity is the most widely practiced religion in the world, with more than 2 billion followers. The Christian faith centers on beliefs regarding the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. While it started with a small group of adherents, many historians regard the spread and adoption of Christianity throughout the world as one of the most successful spiritual missions in human history. Most historians believe that Jesus was a real person who was born between 2 B. According to the text, Jesus was born to a young Jewish virgin named Mary in the town of Bethlehem, south of Jerusalem in modern-day Palestine. Christians believe the conception was a supernatural event, with God impregnating Mary via the Holy Spirit. Jesus was raised Jewish, and according to most scholars, he aimed to reform Judaism —not create a new religion.

He is believed to be the Jewish messiah who is prophesied in the Hebrew Bible , which is called the Old Testament in Christianity. It is believed that through his Crucifixion and subsequent Resurrection , God offered humans salvation and eternal life , [1] that Jesus died to atone for sin to make humanity right with God. These teachings emphasize that as the Lamb of God , Jesus chose to suffer nailed to the cross at Calvary as a sign of his obedience to the will of God, as an "agent and servant of God". While there has been theological debate over the nature of Jesus, Trinitarian Christians believe that Jesus is the Logos , God incarnate , God the Son, and " true God and true man "—both fully divine and fully human. Jesus, having become fully human in all respects, suffered the pains and temptations of a mortal man, yet he did not sin.

He is all this among us poor Gentiles. The women bought burial spices on Friday, prepared them, and then rested on the weekly Sabbath. Prosperity theology sometimes referred to as the prosperity gospel, the health and wealth gospel, the gospel of success, or seed faith is a religious belief among some Protestant Christians that financial blessing and physical well-being are always the will of God for them, and that faith, positive speech, and donations to religious causes will increase one's material wealth. It is a day period of fasting, abstinence and repentance that begins on Ash Wednesday. But second, and more important, Jesus' resurrection from the grave is God's proof to us that death is not the end. Jesus' words strip away all false reality and confront us with the greatest reality of all-the Person and Kingdom of his Father. Aside from all the commandments and programs in the Mormon Church, one belief is central to it all: a belief in Jesus Christ.

Hunter , — All mankind were his friends. That course would be to emulate the character of his Savior Jesus Christ. In his first statement as President of the Church, he said:. We do have high expectations of one another, and all can improve. Our world cries out for more disciplined living of the commandments of God. To be a light is to be an exemplar—one who sets an example and is a model for others to follow.

Following the Example of Jesus Christ

This publication can be printed up to ten copies per lesson for the purpose of group Bible studies. The objective is to get to know Him more intimately in an effort to become more like Him. We want to see and feel what He taught and what He did, so we will be able to live our lives more like God wants us to live. We will use Jesus as our role model. The agenda is to study the Gospels according to Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, taking the events of Christ s life in chronological order as best we can determine.

Recently I read a blog post where the author talked about how the Savior plays a vital role in her daily life. Sooner or later, all of us will need the Savior. We all make mistakes we cannot fix, experience losses we cannot recover, and face pains, persecution, tragedies, burdens, and disappointments we cannot handle alone.
